Instructions
  • Read the article or articles carefully
  • Select and summarize information relavent to the theme of Skeletal Muscles and Exercise Physiology
  • Organize the information in a brochure format:
    • Title of Symposium
    • Topic
    • Your Name
    • The Date
    • Sources
    • Information from your assigned source
      • you need to SELECT and SUMMARIZE the relevant information
      • do not use all the information
      • write in plain English...avoid jargon.....define any unusual terms
    • Graphic or Design relevant to your topic
    • Information should be printed (neatly) or typed
  • Prepare a 2-minute oral presentation on the information
    • You will only have 2 minutes for the presentation
    • Use an introductory statement that states your topic
    • Select 4~6 bits of information to present/discuss
      • State the information and then explain
      • Do not read from the brochure or notes
      • Eye contact very important!
      • You must prepare/practice ahead of time.....
  • Due Friday, January 12, 2001
  • Grading

Grading:

  • Project finished on time (20 points)
    • Late = 0 points
  • All components included (20 points)
    • minus 5 points for each missing component
    • neatness:
      • minus 5 points for sloppy presentation
      • do not use white-out
    • it is possible to get negative points!
    • Graphic or Desgn: This can be original artwork
  • Evidence of selection of relevant information (20 points)
    • information must be relevant to the theme of the symposium
    • accuracy:
      • minus 5 points for inaccurate information
      • minus 5 points for incorrect spelling
      • minus 5 points for grammar errors
    • you do not need any additional sources, but you may use them to support the information in your assigned article
      • no credit is provided for using additional sources, but if you do so, you must site your sources or lose points!
  • Evidence of organization (20 points)
    • clear plan
    • selection of 4~6 bits of information
    • explanation and/or discussion of each bit of information
    • definition for any technical term or terms used
  • Evidence of preparation for oral presentation (20 points)
    • minus 10 points for reading at audience
    • minus 10 points for presentation that is longer than 2 minutes
    • minus 10 points for incorrect pronunciation
