Students, working in groups of 2~4 students will select a body system for the following list and prepare a complete unit that includes objectives, activities, study guides, tests, and interactive materials.
Nervous System
Sense Organs
Endocrine System
Blood
Cardiovascular System
Lymphatic System
Respiratory System
Digestive System
Urinary System
Reproductive System

 

Instructions

 

Students select the body system, decide on objectives, prepare an outline based on those objectives, select vocabulary words associated with the objectives, prepare an annotated hot list of internet links associated with the body system, prepare and present a powerpoint lecture on the body system, plan and prepare a webpage that focuses on selected aspects of the body system, plan and prepare a 5~10 minute movie on selected aspects of the body system, prepare a study guide associated with the objectives, and prepare a test for the body system.

  • Decide which parts of the body system chapter you wish to emphasize
  • Select objectives associated with those parts you wish to emphasize
  • Use textbook, textbook website, or chapter webpages,or other resources for suggestions
  • You DO NOT NEED TO SELECT ALL PARTS OF THE CHAPTER
  • Rough Draft Due January 31 (10 points)
    • rough draft must be submitted as a hard copy for peer editing and teacher suggestions
  • Final Draft Due February 2 (20 points)
    • final draft must be submited as a word document in the shared anatomy folder (in appropriate subfolder)
    • may include graphics
      • please save copies of graphics in image subfolder

Outline

  • Prepare an outline based on selected objectives
  • Use textbook, textbook website, chapter webpages, or other resources for suggestions
  • You DO NOT NEED TO SELECT ALL PARTS OF THE CHAPTER
  • Rough Draft Due February 7 (10 points)
    • rough draft must be submitted as a hard copy for peer editing and teacher suggestions
  • Final Draft Due February 9 (30 points)
    • final draft must be submited as a word document in the shared anatomy folder (in appropriate subfolder)

  • Prepare a Powerpoint Lecture based on selected objectives
  • Use textbook, textbook website, chapter webpages, or other resources for suggestions
  • You DO NOT NEED TO SELECT ALL PARTS OF THE CHAPTER
  • Rough Draft Due February 28 (10 points)
    • rough draft must be ready for peer editing/suggestions by this date
  • Final Draft Due March 2 (100 points)
    • final draft must be submited as a powerpoint presentation in the shared anatomy folder (in appropriate subfolder)

 

Webpage

  • Prepare a webpage based on selected objectives
  • Use textbook, textbook website, chapter webpages, or other resources for suggestions
  • You DO NOT NEED TO SELECT ALL PARTS OF THE CHAPTER
  • Rough Draft Due February 14 (20 points)
    • rough draft must be submitted as a hard copy for peer editing and teacher suggestions
    • may be written as a word document or an html document
      • instructions will be provided in class
    • should include graphics
      • instructions will be provided in class on how to save for incorporation into a webpage
        • please save copies of graphics in an image subfolder
  • Final Draft Due February 16 (80 points)
    • final draft must be submited as a word document or an html documentin the shared anatomy folder (in appropriate subfolder)
    • should include graphics
    • should be submitted in ready to publish form (either on personal webpage or on aorta site )
      • instructions on posting/publishing will be provided in class

 

Movie

  • Prepare a 5~10 minute movie based on selected objectives
  • Use textbook, textbook website, chapter webpages, or other resources for suggestions
  • the movie may be serious or funny, but must be accurate in terms of anatomy & physiology
  • you may elect to videotape a dissection, an interview, a panel discussion, a talk show, a medical documentary, a news event, etc...be creative
  • You DO NOT NEED TO SELECT ALL PARTS OF THE CHAPTER~~you may focus on one of the objectives or all of the objectives you have selected
  • Rough Draft~Progress Update Due March 2 (20 points)
    • rough draft must be submitted as a hard copy of script or story board
      • instructions will be provided in class
  • Progress Update Due March 14 (10 points)
  • Final Movie Due March 16 (80 points)
  • Movie screenings in class March 19~21

 

Study Guide

  • Prepare an study guide based on selected objectives
  • Use textbook, textbook website, chapter webpages, or other resources for suggestions
  • You DO NOT NEED TO SELECT ALL PARTS OF THE CHAPTER
  • Rough Draft March 19 (10 points)
    • rough draft must be submitted as a hard copy for peer editing and teacher suggestions
  • Final Draft Due March 20 (30 points)
    • final draft must be submited as a word document in the shared anatomy folder (in appropriate subfolder)

Test

  • Prepare a multiple~choice, matching, labeling test on based on selected objectives
  • Use textbook, textbook website, chapter webpages, or other resources for suggestions
  • You need test items for each of your objectives
  • Rough Draft Due February 7 (10 points)
    • rough draft must be submitted as a hard copy for teacher suggestions
  • Final Draft Due February 9 (50 points)
    • final draft must be submited as a word document or as a powerpoint presentation (similar to tissue, muscle, and bone tests) in the shared anatomy folder (in appropriate subfolder)
    • may include graphics
      • please save copies of graphics in image subfolder
