Fingerprint Analysis

Title: Fingerprint Analysis

Purpose:

  • to learn basic fingerprint patterns
  • to identify personal fingerprint patterns
  • to classify unknown fingerprints
  • to use fingerprints to identify a "thief"

Materials:

  • fingerprint cards
  • ink pad
  • magnifying glass
  • fingerprint pattern page
  • unknow fingerprint page
  • suspect page
  • safe/suspect data page

Procedure:

  • fill out personal fingerprint card
  • carefully print personal fingerprints with ink pad
  • identify personal fingerprint pattern
  • classify unknown fingerprints
  • classify suspect fingerprints
  • identify the "thief" and provide reasons for your explanation

Results: This will be your fingerprints and idenfications

Analysis & Discussion:

  • A brief description of what you did
  • an explanation of how you determined whose fingerprints were on the safe
  • a discussion of what you can conclude from finding the prints on the safe!

Conclusion:

  • a one sentence testable statement
Reflection:
  • personal comment
